Movie Buff

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

Just found this cool video store quite far from home… they rent movies for $2.49 and got a huge discount if you rent 3 or more at a time. So I went and rented 4 movies for $4. So I’ve got the opportunity to rewatch some good movies such as Kill Bill volume 1 & 2, Final Fantasy Spirits Within and Memento. It’s the first time I’ve seen Memento and was quite surprised. The style is orignal and it was acclamed by critics and the named poped back with the Batman movie. No rating for thoses movies, let’s just say they’re worth seeing. Had fun watching back-to-back 3 movies in a row.

Destiny favors the bold

Sunday, June 19th, 2005

This quote comes from the not so good “Alexander” movie that came out last year. But the thing is those words make some sense. Living our daily lives in well balanced commodity. For long people believed in stability, being the only way to be truly happy. But now when I think of it, chaos can be the right thing, mixing up the equation, setting new variables for the world we live in. In a sense that what keep us alive and interactive, we’re not bored silly because everything changes. Life and Death aren’t stable state, they are unpredictable.

So next time you are given a risky proposition think about it twice. It might be the biggest mistake of your life, yes. But have you though a single second it could also be a marvelous experience, opening new avenues for you to travel on. I’ve talked many times about predestination, and how a plan exists for all of us. Some may be brought to believe they have little purpose to life itself, but the very fact that you live or die in this world makes you interact with the world. What I mean is by actions, or inaction you create something every second. This is based on “The Butterfly Effect”, not the movie! The theory saying that the movement of a butterfly in the southern hemisphere can ultimately create a tornado somewhere else. I strongly believe in that and that Nature (or God if you wish) is balancing from one side to the other, never leaving it static but always revolving for a better future to us all.

This post is still incomplete… someday I might expand on that.

X-Men 3 Teaser Poster

X-Men 3: Click to enlargeBeyond the director mix up, here it comes. Fox is still going with a third installment of the X-Men franchise. There has been so much change over the last months I not sure who’s in charge of the project anymore. Best I can tell is that it’s due for May 26th 2006. Director IS NOT Brian Singer who brought us the fantastic previous movies. Let’s just hope they don’t screw up this one and come up with a good movie.

Batman Begins, more than a movie!

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

This isn’t a movie, it’s a masterpiece. I enjoyed it, you can’t start to imagine how much. Seeing that character evolve/be born on screen is fantastic. I might me raising the bar but this could be the best movie of the summer (perhaps the hole year!)

Seriously! This movie is a 9.5/10 No way it’s perfect but can’t put a finger on any bug (besides the forced voice Christian Bale takes as Batman). This movie is simply PURE entertainment, a real blessing.

This movie destroys and “serial-kills” it’s predecessors. This one was deep, intelligent. Found it to be a serious movie. This movie is a must see of the summer. If you don’t think I’m right that’s your problem you are missing something big, and you’ll regret not seeing it early once you see it.

First day at the job

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Well, here I was back in the caller seat. Was scared has hell to go back there. Didn’t know what would be the reaction of my old colleagues. First I saw that most of them were either fired or had left…

Just had to sit in my corner and start making calls…
Well, if you get paid $9/hour doing nothing in an air conditioned environment I say not bad… still very long shift. Some info on the job later on…

MJ is out

Monday, June 13th, 2005

MJ is freeYes, the King of pop, Michael Jackson is out. He’s been declared NOT GUILTY on all ten charges. I’ve got a simple thing to say, all of you out there who think he was saved because of his money be wrong. You just have preconceived ideas about that! I don’t know if he’s really innocent, I might be guilty or totally innocent. But was one of you there?

So I’d like people to leave the judgement to the department of justice. If we’re talking about comments it’s different! How will he get up from this? Will he make a next album?

Personally I’ve always fought it was a scam, but for him to be charged more then once (over time) is kind of suspicious, people should get the lesson and watch their children. Just a last info, the kid had cancer, MJ paid for everything and brought the kid out of his depression. His mom was glad to let him bound with MJ. Still think she was careless.

FFX-2 Revisited

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

After 13 or so hours of game play I’ve finally reached chapter 3. The game says I’ve completed 29% of the game so I can still expect lots from this Final Fantasy. This report is spoiler free. So your are flying all over Spira because you are the Gullwings, a group of sphere hunters composed by Yuna, Rikky and Paine. Spheres are recordings, like DVDs of some sort that contain sometimes priceless information about the past of Spira. This game brings back the ATB (Active Time Battle) system but at a new level. You can’t just wait an hour a think what move you’ll do next, the ennemy will keep attacking you!

Final F Screen FFX 2

During battle, you can change Dresspheres. To make it simple you start with three dresspheres (Thief, Gunner, Warrior) each sphere gives the character abilities he can use in battle. Has you rediscover Spira you find a lot more of theses spheres. So one moment Yuna has guns to fire, the next you can change her abilities by switching to Warrior, not just the weapon changes, but the entire wardrobe.

What still amazes me is how they twisted a simple story like this one. “Let’s find a treasure” and turn it in a “save the world from destruction” I guess this is part of what make Final Fantasy so good.

It’s all over!

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

Well it’s not “really” over, still got an other session. But it’s the summer! It’s time to have fun and enjoy it as much as you can. No more tests, classes, courses call it as you wish. Time to look for a job and a way to enjoy the best season ever. I could make this message long because the basement is the coolest place in the house I feel like doing something else… let’s say watch a movie, play Final Fantasy X-2 or send more applications for a job.

Nevertheless have a nice summer!
