PlayStation 3 likely to be one pricey machine

I’ve read before that the PS3 could be quite pricey, and that Sony is willing to loose 100$ on each system so it can be competitive and affordable. But we might still be talking a $500 Cnd! Witch is close to what the PS2 sold at first if I recall corectly…

Now hoping you know the facts surrounding the PS3, we are talking a Blu-ray DVD enabled super-computer (Because of the advanced Cell processor). The PS3 should be 32 times more powerful than the actual PS2, so you can imagine…

What shocked me are the words of Ken Kutaragi, President of Sony Computer Entertainment: “Our goal for PlayStation 3 is for consumers to think to themselves, ‘I will work more hours to buy one,’ ” Kutaragi told the Japanese magazine Toyo Keizai. “We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.”

Now I truly wonder in what perspective we should accept that statement. Yes, they are creating a product they want to sell, they’ll try to make it attractive so we desire it. But to what extent can we decide what we really want when marketing does it’s best to create interest… I’d be glad of some comments to help me think about this issue. (French or English no problems)

Sure, sure, PS3 will OWN Xbox 360 :P But I don’t agree with you on the “high price” polemic. The PS2, back then, was one of the finest piece of technology we’ve seen. Starting price? 299$ US. It will be the same with the PS3, excellent technology, and Sony will rely on the quantity, not on the awfully big price.

By the way, if you need help on SPELLING in english, wave this way dude lol

I’ve used spellchecker.org on countless occasions, just didn’t get the time… this time around :) But I am sure the PS3 will sell like ice cream on a hot summer day.
