Got my drivers license!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

 After waiting so long I finally have it! Never was in much of a hurry anyway. I mean I don’t have a car nor the money to pay for the gas. But I’m proud to say that I never took any class for it, I passed both my theoric and practical test only once. I’m a happy success story, I’d like to thank all my friends that gave me great advice for that test.

See you on the roads some day.

Sci Fi – Summer Finale

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

*It’s normal you don’t understand anything if you don’t know those shows*

This week concludes the first half of Scifi Channel, Scifi Fridays. Last week-end was the two hour finale of Stargate SG-1. In the first part they discovered a man in stasis, who was in fact a genetically advance clone of Anubis. On the second half the Ori made a first strike directly to Earth, they sent an advanced plague to kill everyone on Earth. The contagion got quickly out of control, and even the help of Orlin (an Ancient) does not seem enough to stop the plague in time. To be continued in next half of Stargate SG-1 ninth season.

As of this week, Stargate Atlantis finished with a 2-hour finale also. Two great episodes, one where Sheppard’s team finds an Ancient ship. They find the entire crew of the Aurora (ancient ship) have been in deep stasis and are connected in a kind of Matrix environment. But a Wraith has hacked into the system and is manipulating the crew in developing advance hyper-drives. After this episode, they’re captured by Ford and forced to attack a hive ship. Teyla, McKay and Ronnon have been put on the Wraith enzyme unwillingly! The plan did not go as planned by Ford and his commando of drugged warriors (found on an other planet), the entire team is captured and Sheppard is at mercy of a female Wraith.

And now, my main motivation of writing this was the finale of Battlestar Galactica. One of the best of the year! They discover the Battlestar Pegasus survived the Cylon genocide. Commander Adama falls second in command of the fleet and the new Amiral is about to change a lot of things in the fleet. The new command decides to interrogate Boomer with vicious methods. In fact the “Interrogator” nearly rapes her but hope fully the Cheif and Helo save her in time (killing the officer by accident). They’re court martial by the Amiral with no real trial, she sentences them to death. Adama refuses and asks for a trial in front of a jury, he launches Vipers against the Pegasus and so does the rival ship. Those officers are ready to start a military war ? To be continued!! Haaaa!! :furious: Great episode:cheers:

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)

Internet Telephony

Calling your friends via a digital medium never been easier! Of course every time you use your cell phone your voice is digitally sampled then transferred. But what we could call land line phones started to convert as well. At home we are using Internet telephony provided by my ISP Vidéotron. Their service is very stable, you get to keep your old phone number, 911 works, you can get all the options available on regular phone connection. Having this service does not alter your cable TV signal nor your Internet connection speed. The calls are encrypted within Videotron’s internal network. You can subscribe to their service even if you don’t have the Internet or Cable TV from them, but you won’t save as much money though.
This way you get to combine your services and save a lot of money!

P2P Telephony

But there is also another form of VoIP I’d like to talk about, it’s Skype! They’ve been out there for sometime and have all the experience they needed. Skype is P2P messaging software that lets you make free calls to other users of the network. So if you have a computer, microphone/headset, you are ready to make free calls world-wide over the Internet. Problem is most people don’t even have a microphone and can’t get any benefit from that great technology. Skype recently bought by eBay comes with other features you can pay for such as SkypeOut; to call land line phones, SkypeIn; to get several phone numbers normal phones can call to, Voicemail; well we all know what that is.

So the thing with Skype is that it’s 100% within it’s network but you need to pay if you have to cross technology. A perfect world would make all computers have Skype and headsets so we can make free calls world-wide!! I mentioned earlier, it’s P2P encrypted calls meaning it’s not a server handling the transfers beeing the reason why it’s free for skype-to-skype users.

Batman BeginsOctober 18, 2005
By far the best movie we had this summer. Batman Begins gives Batman all the credit the character deserves by starting anew with Bruce Wayne. This movie is dark and entertaining. It’s a smart movie with a solid script. This movie shows you how the legend was born, we understand the fear that created the character and turned into this crime fighting machine.

Star Wars III: Revenge of the SithNovember 1st, 2005
Never been a huge fan, but I respect that trilogy and is quite nice to watch. Revenge of the Sith is really dark and we see the fall of Anakin Skywalker to the Dark side. Not much comments or great things to say about this movie. It’s just important that you see it, and I believe it’s an essential part of a trilogy collection.

PS2 Adaptor Received

Monday, September 19th, 2005

Well, after a week-end being sick. The new PS2 AC Adaptor just go in. It would of been there since Friday morning but no one was home to pick it up. :(

Anyways, this week is full of tests (Psychology and Philosophy). I have an archeolgy field trip for this Wednesday, I’ll have pictures documenting our expedition. Not to mention a paper on a movie we’ve seen in the Integration class.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Saturday, September 17th, 2005

A new chapter just unfolded. The next generation of Metal Gear has been presented. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots features Snake (Solid or Boss?) with his high-tech gear and well aged Otacon. Of course we’re getting a few glipses of what PS3 graphics will look like. Picture yourself in a few months playing this game! Not much details to shout out. Let’s take this as a nice tease. :D

While browsing the new Opera Community I’ve noticed some nice Custom Blog themes, so I intend to make one pretty soon.

To hit the post title I’ve uploaded my first photo album. In fact I’ve posted thoses pictures once before, when I was in vacation, but here is a re-edit with a few added pictures (in way higher resolution than last time). I’d like you to give me some comments once more on those pictures.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

This movie is so great! I’ve seen the first previews long ago. Nearly forgot about, but I’ve finally seen it.

This movie brings 3D animation to the top. Don’t be scared of this sequel to the world greatest game ever (Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation).

We get the feel of the action, we are amazed by the moves and those are the kind of animation we would of like to see in the original game.

To understand the story you really must have played the game, or else you won’t understand much. But to summarize we’re two years after Sephiroth has been defeated. The other clones still want to organize the Reunion with mother Jenova.

Fine, you haven’t played the game? Doesn’t matter then it’s a MUST see. FFVII:AC brings fantasy to pure extasy.
