Step Up: DVD release

Step UpWhen I first saw trailers for this movie I got pretty hook on it. I was in my “Save the Last Dance” mood. The critics weren’t so pleased with the movie and got a poor 21% from RottenTomatoes.com. But we all know that you can’t always trust what others think of a movie and you can end up being in love with it. I did follow my insticts and avoided wasting money to see it in theaters. However this movie is a pretty good rent IF you’re into trip hop music.

This movie stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as two students coming from VERY different backgrounds. Tyler, Tatum’s character ends up being a bad boy stuck doing 200 community service for vandalism in the school of arts. Nora, played by Dewan, is desperate to find a new dance partner for her final school project. Their worlds collide when they deceide to team up and learn from each other. Every one has a goal in life, and this movie is about the hard work to get there, to find your voice, and be true to yourself.

The movie has a very nice pace, both the music and dance moves are teen sawvy. This picture is like one big motivationnal tape pointing out everyones mistake but showing us how to make it all better. I didn’t hate the movie, it was aleast entertaining most of the time. Not a buy but a good rent for the holidays.

  • Ellis Roberts:

I pictured Step Up when I first saw the trailer as being a teen/girl movie but when going to the cinema to see it every age/gender was there. I thought they looked like they really enjoyed it aswell… I thought the film was great… as I really enjoyed “Take The Lead” aswell. I think its a great buy.
