Transformers

I couldn’t wait much longer to see this movie, I’ve been following the hype of hardcore fans for the longest time and had good expectations for this movie. First off, I’ve never been exposed to the cartoon during my youth (guess I’m too young), however I knew a lot about that universe in particular because of Beast Wars; based on the Transformers series and using re-incarnations of characters like Megatron and Optimus Prime.

I rarely give bad reviews of a movie that I see, but this time around I must say it’s becoming a kind of trend. I appreciate the movies I see in theater and this one is no exception. But read out my review and see what I liked and disliked about the Transformers movie, directed by action-packed director Michael Bay.
In case you didn’t know, you usually need a set of bad guys versus a set of good guys. In Transformers the Autobots are the transformers fighting for the survival of man-kind and oppose the group lead by Megatron, the Decepticons who want to harness the power of the All Spark to spread destruction on Earth and bring their side to the winning stand. A teenager named Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) gets his first car and it turns out to be an alien robot, sent to protect him and retrieve an artifact that shows the location of the All Spark. Obviously he needs protection from the likes Barricade a robot disguised in a police car. Seen chasing him below.

The military is involved, and the humans try their best to cope with the situation. The movie itself does not take too much time to explore the Transformers mythology, they get to the point. The robots fight and these sequences are incredible. The transformations and overall computer generated effects we’re breath taking. I’m not sure how much more realistic they could of made the movie… ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) was involved meaning you know they went for the best out there. One disappointment was that there wasn’t anything after the credits! I’ve been getting used to get something, like one last punch to stir up talks. That wasn’t the only downside (if you can count it as one), the story took a lot of time with many different characters and I felt like the attention was divided over too many characters. I can understand you want multiple things to happen together as a cooperative effort but some of the decision made the humans (story wise) we’re questionable. Once again it’s been proven that if a real crisis comes to fruition the world is not ready to act accordingly.

Overall, this is great summer movie. The humor is fresh, the action is crazy, the actors are good (looking?), and it’s packed together in a little over two hours. Compared to the other blockbusters I would easily put in in front of Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Please just go out and see it, it’s worth to see on a large screen with some popcorn.
