Beowulf: An IMAX 3D Experience

So last week was pretty busy for me but I had to make the time to see this movie. Beowulf is a story about a viking warrior that loves the thrill of beating monsters, for pride and glory. For some reason the movie makes you think of 300 because it’s all about the fighting sequences and the style chosen to present the movie. The fact that the movie is all 3D animated does make it a movie for kids in the league of the Shreks or Monster Inc. This movie is full on PG-13, blood and people ripped in half, a lot of “fake” nudity and mature jokes throughout the picture. I wear glasses and having the 3D glasses on top of that was no fun, from time to time I had a little bit of distortion and the set of glasses were getting heavy on my nose, but the effects were pretty cool and I think 3D is a nice technology they could not have skipped with this movie. “Things jump at you, and the sense of depth is there”.

The story isn’t a happy one, it’s mostly about failures and redeeming oneself through sacrifice. But if you have the chance to see it in theaters it’s a good 2 hours spent.
