Wanted

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Honestly the best action film this summer so far. I had more fun watching Wanted then I had with The Incredible Hulk or Iron Man. Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman are great actors and played their roles impressively well. The story is presented in a great way, there is some humor here and there and the action is the most graphic so far this summer.

The story starts out when Wesley Gibson is introduced to The Fraternity, a group of assassins that dispose of people that will do bad things (in order to prevent them from doing evil things). This is an over simplification of the plot but you are under the impression that he will have to learn to become as great as an assassin his father was, and to control his extra-ordinary abilities that allows him to curve bullets, increase his reflexes, senses, speed and such. Great things happen during this movie. Be ready to be amazed and surprised by many things story wise. The use of computer generated images is very present but it never truly distracted me from the awesome sequences they portrayed using it. Wanted is in my opinion the best movie of the summer so far. After Hellboy II and The Dark Knight the summer blockbuster season may take a bow.

Diablo III Announced

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

The news took the Internet by storm this week-end when Blizzard announced that Diablo 3 is in developpment. Many had speculated that it was about time they gave sign of life to this franchise and I can say I’m genuinely looking forward to it. The original Diablo was my first Mature rated game and I clearly remember how under aged I was back then. It’s a good old hack and slash RPG, played mostly with the mouse (point and click). If you visit their official website you can see a theatrical teaser that announces the new game, along a 22 minutes video that demonstrates the gameplay with two different character classes. You can get up to speed with the franchise by reading or listening to Cain’s journal that summerises events from the original Diablo, Diablo II, and the expansion set called Lord of Destruction. I just hope this will be released this year! Who needs Starcraft II or Warth of the Lich King when a new Diablo game is coming.

Down the Drain

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Screaming Face PaintingI haven’t posted about myself or about my work situation in ages. Mostly because I don’t believe it to be that interesting or note worthy. When I started this blog I saw it as an online diary that could keep track of my different impressions of what ever happens in the world. Lately I’ve been focusing on reviewing a bunch of stuff but not really for the sake of pouring my heart out. Mostly trying to drive traffic to the blog. Hoping to make a few pennies. I’m a die hard optimist most of the time and if I have the blues I can dismiss it after good night sleep… Right now I feel there is some foreshadowing coming from the 40s crisis that men tend to have (when they reach their 40s). Questioning my career choices and decisions, trying to make a living, valuing your qualities and proving yourself shouldn’t take such a toll on me. But they do… and it down right sucks. One day your in a perfect spot, not really thinking ahead or what tomorrow may hold. You believe in destiny, and somehow God has a plan for you, a way to be meaningful… until the day you realize you might have to wait longer than expected. You’re starting to loose confidence in your ability to keep your head above the water. You think you’re skilled but there is always that other one that beats you to the punch. You can’t be number one, and you sure can’t be in the top 10 either. I’ll be 22 next month and I get the feeling I’ve wasted so much time not doing the right things so far. Realizing this now might be a blessing or a curse who knows… Eat, sleep, play is not that different from Commute, work, sleep. For now I’m longing for the latter option.
