April Fools’ Day

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

A word of advice for anyone looking at a website today. They will make you believe anything and you’ll be a fooled by very credible sources. Google, CNET, Digg and many others. I remember when I was younger, we used to make fishes and stick it in the back of a teacher. Hoping he would not notice. But I knew they felt all those weird hugs on their backs… Today if you fool around, be sure not to be mean and always get back to the fooled and tell them it was a joke… pretty overwhelming trust me.

Children of Men

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

14childrenofmen.jpgI have to say I’m quite impressed. This movie shocked me, it made me think about humanity and I really enjoyed my time at the theater. You now when you are torn inside, and you feel for the characters. That’s what happened when I saw Children of Men, starring Clive Owen. The story takes place 20 years in the future and man kind is sterile. Seriously there has been no newborn in the past 18 years. It’s like the world lost it’s meaning or reason to go on. The world is decaying, bombings, anarchy. I was a bit lost in the plot because of some political concerns but that is part of why I loved it so much. It’s hard to explain it clearly. You are not blown away by special effects, it’s not action packed. But it is a drama with action. The feeling of survival is extreme and you will really enjoy it. I’ll give it a nice 9 out of 10 because I’m really looking back forward seeing it again. It will grab you and give you some time to think. About the plot it’s hard to go into details but the is this one women who seems to be pregnant. She represents hope and they need to save her from the anarchy the world is. If she would be discovered her life would be torn either by terrorists or government.

I was sure that movie came out back in December, but it was in limited release. So it came out in most theaters last week. Go see it, word of mouth helped it out. It’s great!

2007: Happy New Year!

Monday, January 1st, 2007

newyear_fireworks.jpgSome poetry might be in order for the new year but I don’t think you would really grab the feelings I want to share with you. Every year we celebrate a new beginning, this marking of time is shared by billions of brothers and sisters. We are one great family and we take this time to rejoice and make resolutions that we will not keep. We are still at war with our neighbors. Bitter with our friends and egoist to the need of others. For 2007 I wish you love, happiness and good health. But for all that to happen we must change; the way we see the world, the way we behave and our perception of the others. I do believe that we can all make it better. Once again; Happy New Year and make it a great year. Not only for your sake but for your friends and family.

Love to all, may God bless you all. Be safe when you celebrate and enjoy the Holidays…

Worst: Prison or Canada

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I could not really believe that news when I heard about it this morning. I was even more shocked when I learned the details of the story. Malcom Watson, convicted sex offender towards a 15 years old student was exhiled here, in Canada. The judge Frank Clarka gave him the choice between one year in prison or three years in Canada. It’s true that in old times being exiled was the worst of shame.

Prison CellBut when you have two countries that are highly similar in lifestyle, you send him BACK to his family; wife and three kids that were already living up there! In other words his only loss is the job as a teacher he had, but he would of lost anyway since he’s a sex offender. Is Canada considered some kind of 5th world country where this man will live miserably for the next three years? Does he leave everything behind in shame of his actions? No he doesn’t!

Considering those facts, how can you put one year of prison and three years of “freedom” in Canada side by side. I’m outraged and I hope the Immigration department looks into this and invalidates this judgment, we don’t have to take him, imaging if we did the same thing and sent out our criminals to the US. Tell me what you think about this and explain the logic behind this if you consider it to be any. I’d like to read your comments on the subject (where ever you are in the world).

Time for Workout!

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Today I’ve signed up for a 1-year membership to the CEPSUM. It’s the sports complex of the University of Montreal. Since I meant business I took their complete package deal where I have unlimited access to the training room and all sports fields. The student rebate brought it down at $120 CND. I think it’s really cheap compared to other workout centers that charge you a crazy $30/month fee (thats when they have promotions). I don’t have great expectations and this will serve me only as much as I’m willing to help myself. My objectives are simple; loose weight, improve the cardio. On the other end I’ll need to make better meal choices and put two or three hours a week into it.

Big ArmsLook at this picture. I sure don’t expect to reach that level in one year and don’t think I’d ever go this far in terms of improving my physique. There is a thin balance between feeling happy in your body and worshiping it. Nowadays a lot of people with self-esteem figure it’s the best way to become irreproachable. In my case, over confidence and HIGH self-esteem brought me not to care what people though of me. Why change now? Why adopt a better lifestyle? Homeostasis! A well balanced system works better against infections (I have colds all the time), it also improves mental states in different situations. You are what you are, you are defined by what you do, all the choices I made in the past made me as I am and changing that means leaving a part of me behind. If I spent my afternoons playing sports instead of playing video games I would of been a totally different person! Next time you think of changing something in your life make sure that’s the way you want it. Do I hate my self to the point of becoming an anorexic? No way lol! But let’s go a step at a time and see where it leads me, better now than when I reach my 50s.

Nip/Tuck

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Nip/Tuck Main CastThis is not a new show. They already reached season four this month. However I took back a little interest in the show… How can I explain it? It grossed me out. I hated to see those surgeries and hopefully the show did not air around lunch time. To sum it up, we’ve got those two successful plastic surgeons living out their lives, one is a family men dealing with his issues and the other is a jerk who lives his life in abundant female company. I doubt I’ll get to watch the new season considering I missed seasons two and three!

Now I got me to think about beauty and we rate it. I mean reconstructive surgery is fine but what about those cosmetic changes? Are they always justified or just a way to spend a lot of money. Thanks to the multiple “makeover” shows many might have a distorted vision of how dangerous it can really be. I consider that we were brought in this world in a specific way and what ever happened to us in live alter or bend the original makeup we were given. If you’re interested by the subject, over eighteen and what to have a look at the human society in it’s lowest commodities watch Nip/Tuck on FX, Tuesdays 10PM.

Shooting in a Montreal School

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

dawson_1.gifThis news is really creeping me out. Around noon today a mad shooter opened fire in Dawson’s College. They count one dead and many wounded, eight considered critical. From the information given by the media and witnesses the white male around his 19s started shooting in the schools cafeteria.

It’s been confirmed that the shooter was taken down by the police as he was in a kind of killing spree. Those shootings are not to common, especially here in Canada. I’m outraged that it did happen. I’m just glad that the situation was controlled by the authorities and thanks to their intervention many lives were saved today.

When ever I was looking to the videos and pictures depicting the event I came across this picture of students comforting each other. That single image struck me, the emotion and feel of the tragedy. Let’s pray that such a thing never happens again; if you’ve got issues take some time and visit a professional. Suicide and mass murder are not the only option you stupid peace of sh*t. Censoring myself is only a way for me to tell that this is really how I feel because usually I would simply rephrase to avoid any kind of cursing or crude language. When I was in High School I did consider going to Dawson College (wasn’t undecided for long), but life got me elsewhere.

Students in shock

No more smoking!

Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

It is now official and very real. Smoking in public places is not allowed anymore in the province of Quebec. I present my condolences to every smoker out there that will have to grief their cigarette during break times or will have to bend to extraordinary circumstances to get their smoke. I won’t hide my joy, I do not believe smoking is good for our health especially those of us that don’t usually smoke and are imposed upon. The government seems rather serious since if you are caught smoking in front of a building less than 9 meters from the entrance you get a $500 fine and the building a $1000. Every time they pick someone who outlaw he’ll fuel the province with a fresh $1500 that will help paying for the health care system.

No SmokingBut no matter how great it is for non-smokers to visit bars, pubs and restaurant that are smoke free, there is something much more important being that law. Are we finally considering all the negative effects of smoke? Why not extend it to the massive pollution we initiate as humans, by cars, industries and such. We might finally become responsible and slowly start kicking out bad habits for our own good and the well being of everyone else. I must state once again that you can’t compare smoking to other habits that are putting your health at risk because all the other ones (junk food, alcohol, sleep depravation, and lack of physical activity) do not involves directly the health of the others. Smoking was the first target but there is still work to be done to take care of our collective health.
