For some weird reason I had totally forgot that a new Terminator TV show was in development. I have watched the first three episodes and was surprised it’s not as bad as I expected.

I’m not too hot for the cast, Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker and Summer Glau. But if you were craving for a new action show, you will be served. Forget about the slow paced Heroes, or the mind bending Prison Break. This show has a very long name; Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and takes itself very seriously. Sarah Connor is still ready to fight robots to make sure her son his safe and Skynet never comes to existence and destroy the human race. She is sure she can still stop it what ever happens and she is not giving up. Similar to the plot of the previous terminator movies, future Skynet sends assassins to kill John Connor (leader of the human resistance), and the future John sends a reprogrammed Terminator to protect him. It’s a constant struggle that could last until the day Skynet takes over in the present. Those events happened in the third Terminator movie, so you could say that this movie is not a direct sequel but is evolving in a parallel storyline.

The movies deserve the name of classics and this series is a nice nod to expand the universe. You can be sure that I will be tuning in every week to get my fix. The next new episode will air on FOX, on Monday February 4th.

I just wrapped up watching the first season of Dexter. Thanks to some well deserved free time from the Holidays I’ve been able to see through the 12 episodes and will admit that it was much more interesting to me then I had originally anticipated. Sometimes they say seeing is believing and if you get the chance to watch the show you’ll get the vibe.

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is a blood spatter analyst working for the Miami Police. But that doesn’t stop him to express his real personality from time to time as he is a serial-killer. The story surrounding the character is very intriguing and throughout the show you are lead to see life through the eyes of a killer. Now who wants a bad guy for a main character? Like he tells us, Dexter has standards, his father taught him well, helped him grow up with the desire to kill but to channel it for the greater good. Following the code a Harry (his fater), Dexter only kills the worse criminals that go though the net of the justice system. He’s a bit different from a vigilante because he has that need to kill.

At first the show reminded me of a mix of CSI and Nip/Tuck, because it is very graphic (gallons of blood) and it involves investigation of different crime scenes. The first season focuses on a different serial-killed labeled as “the ice truck killer” who cuts his victims in pieces and wraps them to expose in public places. I don’t want to tell much more if you haven’t seen the show but the work of Dexter is going to get much more complicated througout the season. There is a lot of interesting character developpement and my favorite part is the way Dexter fakes human interactions that he maintains them as a mask to hide the monster that lives within him.

I’m very much looking forward the second season, and knowing it has been renewed for a third season is a great news. Still leaving you spoiler-less, I’ll dare say that there a very nice twists througout the show and the finale is no short of big surprises. Being a psychology student I take a great deal of interest in character interactions and psychopathology is a very interesting subject, won’t dare analysing Dexter (wouldn’t want anything bad happening to me ). Find a way to see the show, if you can’t stomach investigation shows I assure you it goes away from the basic CSI style and the character is very clever, made reminded me why I loved Prison Break so much. Being a genius is good for any kind of situation.

I have to say that the finale for season two of Prison Break, breaks my heart. I’ll get on with some of the things I’ve been looking at for the past few weeks. I don’t feel the same vibe there was in the first season, I saw the show going into a very strange direction. I like the way Michael handle things, how he planned everything and how his plan to escape slowly unfolded. I also thought he was pretty good to react to new situations where he had nothing planned. All this is very good until now, but I’ve been annoyed by the jumps and hoops they need to go through all the time, he’s free, but she’s guilty, he’s got proof but the proof dies or is not valid. What I though to be brilliant at first, a conspiracy theory is just starting to get in the way of the story.

I’ll go ahead and say that Sona is the worse cliff hanger I could of imagined for a series like Prison Break. There has been some rumors over the Internet that the series might get a new name for the third season but as the final episode unfolded you started to see that the characters are all being stacked in a Panamanian prison. The good thing, the only thing that saved the episode for me is when I saw the name of the prison Mahone and Scofield where sent to: Sona. It’s been mentioned earlier in the episode by the “mute” man, the one who seems to be giving orders concerning “the company’s” business. I should be happy the season came to an end but I really don’t see how they can crank back the show to what made it great in the first place. For the love of God, how can you end a season with your main character walking in the unknown bathed in a white light! You don’t know what’s happening and you have little room to speculate on theories…

In the end, season is no where as good as the first season was and I never expected the show to even last this long. I really thought they would escape at episode 13 of season 1, they got this far and for this I salute them!

When I go back thinking about the show I can hardly believe how it managed to reach this point. This is one of the best suspense/action/drama show. Of course my love has been lately shared with new comer Heroes but my loyalty towards Prison Break is unbreakable. The show has always been well written and the constant rebounds keep you on the edge of your seat from week to week. Last year, at the same time, I was sure Michael Schofield was breaking out and the show would end. I mean how far can the scope of the name PRISON BREAK go?

They did their job with the advertising saying that the escape just begins. This second season has been just has fun as the first. Unlike last year’s hiatus the fall finale break will resume in January instead of time killer March. This last episode was full of surprise and the finale was pretty un-expected. It opens new doors and the second half of the season will be promising. If you missed it or know nothing of Prison Break you can visit FOX.COM where you can view episodes online.

The new season of Prison Break is released tonight on FOX and Global. The show will air at 8PM and will follow the incredible escape that happened at the end of last year’s season. Michael Scofield, his brother and a group of felons have managed to break out of their prison cells, past the guards and the walls of Fox River penitentiary. The elaborate planning and miticulous preparations of Scofield allowed him to execute his plan to save his brother that was unwrightfully charged with the murder of the vice-president’s brother and pending death. The second season starts tonight and the escape truly begins. Be sure to tune in! (Sorry Kyle XY but you’ll have to wait for this week, fall shows are back!)

I simple hope no one was really thinking X-Men: The Last Stand would seriously be the last time we hear about the X-Men! It is quite obvious that money maker and fan favorite franchise is still worth my money.
The first official news on top of the list is that the DVD will be released this fall; October 3rd 2006. We can presume it will be a release similar to the two previous installments showcasing a 2-disc set. Let’s keep in mind that from my perspective the third X-Men movie was far from being the best one. The vision of Marvel’s universe of X-Men divided fans across the world considering some of the editorial choices made by both screenwriter and producer Brett Ratner (Running Scared, Prison Break). Now this movie I will buy of course, it will be a great addition to my 4-disc set of the previous movies that we’re directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, The Usual Suspects). You can go see my previous post to get my optimistic perception of the movie.

Now there has been some serious chatter over the Internet concerning a fourth movie to be eventually released but the focus would be on other X-Men. What I mean is that they can finally cut Storm (played by Halle Berry) that has been a lot of screen time. I mean during the hole movie I was asking myself why she was having a word to say on everything. Same thing goes for Wolverine who has been the focus of all three stories will now get his own spin-off. This move would address two issues with the comic book franchise. Having multiple heroes means sharing screen time and not having the time to enjoy each of them at their full potential. You could of really noticed it starting with X2: X-Men United with Cyclops that barely had time to do anything.

If they decide to ride that horse I’m willing to support them. Even though Bryan is through with FOX and will probably be working on a Superman sequel I’d like to see him direct an other X-Men movie. I remember talking with a friend back when X2 was released that we hoped that they would stop after three to make sure they don’t spoil the show. But today I realize that I’m fan enough to see more X-Men if they are willing to invest more time on a good script and forget about actors demands.

Prison Break is the show I’ve been hooked on since last year and was waiting for a new episode every week. I watched an episode, recorded on tape to watch it at least once more before the next show. Now that the first season is completed they are releasing that six DVD set that also includes commentary by the creators and stars, featurettes, alternate and deleted scenes and more. They created a specific website to promote their franchise PrisonBreakDVD.com and the retail price is around $37 US/$55 CND.

The new season of Prison Break will air on FOX and Global on August 21st. Be sure to watch the first season by then because this TV show is highly addictive.

I simply can’t remember any show that was that good. The series started last fall and featured Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller as leading actors. Since then the show has been getting incredible ratings and it quickly became my all time favorite. I have a few good news for everyone, first of all even if the show was focused on Michael’s escape plan the plot got a lot thicker and mesmerizing (conspiracy, murder, intelligent). The key elements to it’s success is intelligence and thrill, and I guess all the success was enough to convince FOX to renew the show for a second season! At first it was hard to anticipate more then 13 episodes, but hopefully the writers keep doing this amazing job every week. That’s magnificent! If it weren’t enough the series has already been bought by a French Canadian network and they will start airing the show tomorrow at 8PM (GMT -5). I’m mentioning this because I’ve got many readers that use French as their usual language and that the very fact that the show has already been ported to a regional broadcaster such as TVA means they recognize the immense success of the series.

If you’re not already hooked I’d suggest you get a good grip from next week episode. Long live Prison Break!

This show is addictive and I’m sure the producers will be thrilled to hear me say that it has a very strong story line and is handled in a great way.

So what is all the fuss about this new show, let’s break it down in a few words. Lincoln Burrows (left) is sentenced to death after being charged with the murder of the Vice-presidents brother. But Michael Scofield (center), Lincolns brother is sure of his innocence. Thus elaborates a plan to free his brother, Scofield gets the blue prints of the prison and hides them in a full body tattoo that he applies on himself before robbing a bank on purpose. Once inside the prison he can start his break out. He seems to have everything accounted for his escape of the maximum security prison. He is soon to realize that the inmates are not as cooperative and shot after shot his plan takes a fall. Outside the walls, Burrows old girlfriend (that happened to be an attorney) starts to investigate the case that has long been closed. She quickly discovers that the secret services want to drown the hole case! What is it that they want to hide, will Michael’s plan work? Are the other inmates required for the escape will be cooperative (left to right, Sucre, T-Bag, Abruzzi)? You’d have all those answers already if you watched the first eight episodes! Be sure to catch the new ones on FOX and Global at 9PM. The secret service get nervous as more and more people try to save Lincoln, executions are starting sooner than expected.
